OUR STORY
Zăganu is a Romanian craft beer, produced independently, with care and patience, since 2013. We started our story in an old microbrewery at the foot of the Carpathian Mountains, in the village of Măneciu-Ungureni, Prahova County. It all started with the desire to create an authentic Romanian brand, but above all a real alternative to industrial beers. A Romanian beer born of passion, courage and freedom. Unfiltered, fresh, full of character and without compromise.
Only natural ingredients, which can be easily pronounced: water, malt, hops and yeast, but above all time, passion and the hands of people who believe in what they do.
Who are we?
We are Alexandru and Laurențiu, two friends who gave up offices and corporations to create a brand and a beer with character. We reopened a forgotten brewery and started with a dream: to produce a sincere, authentic, Romanian craft beer. We learned along the way, we made mistakes, we learned again. And today, together with a dedicated team, we produce Zăganu craft beer daily, with the same passion as in the beginning, in the same place, in Măneciu-Ungureni.
Why Zaganu?
The name comes from the bearded eagle, an extinct species from the Carpathians, a symbol of freedom and strength. So is our beer: free, courageous, with deep mountain roots and an independent spirit.
Zăganu doesn't follow trends. Zăganu follows his calling.
What makes us different?
Artisanal production, 100% independent
Own recipes, unfiltered, produced in limited quantities.
We use only natural ingredients: malt, hops, water and yeast.
Each bottle is produced, bottled and labeled semi-automatically, with the help of our team.
We support local production, collaborations with other small entrepreneurs, and the circular economy.
Where can you find us?
You can find us at our brewery in Măneciu-Ungureni and in our bar in the heart of Bucharest – Zăganu Craft Beer Bar, Calea Victoriei 91-93 . You can also find us in Zăganu Taproom in Obor Square, on the 1st floor, in Hala Nouă . But also in dozens of partner locations across the country, which choose to promote quality Romanian beer.
What is our vision?
We believe in a world where beer is more than a drink. It's a story. A moment. A conscious choice. That's why we will never compromise on quality. We will not rush. We will not sell "cheap and a lot". We will continue to produce beer the way it should be: with patience, honesty and respect for the authentic taste. We want to revitalize the craft beer industry in Romania and continue our mission started in 2013.

OUR BAR
Zăganu Craft Beer Bar is our bar, opened in August 2017, a place where you will find 100% craft beers produced in independent micro-breweries in Romania.
Our goal as micro-brewers and owners of this craft-beer-bar is to support the production of quality craft beer in Romania and to help revitalize this industry, an industry that slowly disappeared when, starting in 1990, small local breweries were either closed or bought by large corporations.
Today we are proud to say that there are over 65 independent microbreweries in Romania and that you can find the beers of many of them at our bar, on Calea Victoriei 91-93, at Zăganu Craft Beer Bar.
